Breakout With a Farming Twist
In the Godot Classroom server we ostensibly do a weekly challenge to make a game, similarly to The 20 Games Challenge. So far there’s been a 1-to-1 overlap. The previous challenge was to remake Pong. This weeks challenge is Breakout. It’s fairly similar to Pong and makes for a great “next steps” game.
Now, I’ve made Breakout before, many years ago. I want to change the gameplay a bit. I’m thinking of using a farming theme, where your “bricks” are raised beds of a variety of crops. Every time a crop is hit, it grows one stage. Different crops have a different number of stages of growth. If a crop is at it’s last stage of growth and it’s hit, the player gets the point value for that “brick”. It’s still pong, but has a fresh visual to go along with it.
Itch.Io page will launch once it’s reached an initial playable state!
